Dr.
Atencio D.C. is an experienced chiropractor dedicated to providing
the most advanced non-surgical procedures available to help
patients avoid surgery and recover as quickly as possible.
We
proudly offer "True" Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression
on the DRX9000 or DRX9500
for the treatment of disc related problems and chronic back
or neck pain. Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is an excellent
and very successful alternative to surgery.
The
DRX9000 utilizes advanced computer systems to drop intradiscal
pressure and create a vacuum effect at the level of the involved
disc. When negative pressure is created, degenerative discs
are re-hydrated and herniated disc material can be pulled back
within the confines of the disc allowing the body to heal.
The
DRX9000 is the only device FDA cleared as "True" Non-Surgical
Spinal Decompression. Traction based devices may actually increase
intradiscal pressure and will not produce the desired decompression
effect.
Technology
has also significantly improved the rehabilitation and strengthening
process. Low tech balls and tubes have been replaced with high
tech rehabilitation on a device called the Spine Force.
The
Spine Force is a unique and cutting edge rehabilitation
trainer that is originally imported from France. Unlike other
centers that utilize outdated rehabilitative protocols or none
at all, the Spine Force strengthens patients recovery by simultaneously
strengthening, balancing AND stimulating the deep spinal muscles
while most importantly stimulating the neurologic coordination
(the nerves) required for long term relief.
Dr.
Atencio D.C. is a credentialed provider in Active Release Technique.
The procedure is a new and highly successful approach to injuries
of muscles, tendons, fascia, nerves and surrounding soft tissues
caused by repetitive motion and injury. A.R.T provides a way
to treat the underlying cause of symptoms of numbness, tingling,
burning, and aching by removing the adhesions that form in the
tissues.
Over-used
muscles and trauma can cause your body to produce tough, dense
scar tissue in the affected area. As scar tissue builds up,
muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons causes
tendonitis and nerves can become trapped. This can cause reduced
range of motion, loss of strength and pain.
With
Active Release Technique abnormal tissues are treated by combining
precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.
The combination of tension and movement is designed to break
down the build-up scar tissue that causes these problems. It's
literally an active release of scar tissue.
Examples
of conditions that can be resolved utilizing A.R.T. included:
Achilles Tendonitis, Ankle Injuries, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome,
Frozen Shoulder, Rotator Cuff Syndrome, Golfers and Tennis Elbow,
Hip pain, Running Injuries, Sports Injuries, Tendonitis and
nerve related disorders.
Electrical
Stimulation and Cold Laser Therapies
are also available for pain control.
